Hell World RX
Just two weeks after the World RX Championship’s first visit of the year state side the championship headed back to Scandinavia. Hell is always a popular event on the calendar with amazing scenery surrounding the circuit, 19,000 fans looked on as the drivers provided the action.
iON athlete Petter Solberg made a brilliant start to proceedings. He was victorious in the first heat with a brilliant Joker Lap. The second heat didn’t go to plan with a puncture on lap whilst battling for the lead at the start. A strong second day was needed and Petter delivered, 4th in heat three and a win in the final heat qualified him on the front row of semi-final 2.
Chaos ensued, first, contact with the half spun car of Mattias Ekström and then a clout from behind from Timur Timerzyanov. Petter’s car couldn’t continue at full race pace and he finished 5th in the semi-final.
The final went the way of Sweden’s Timmy Hansen with Peugeot Hansen team mate Davey Jeanney in second place. Popular Swede and iON user Robin Larrson took his first podium of the year in 3rd.
The championship heads to Loheac in France where Petter will look to defend his 41 point championship lead.
